A 56-year-old San Raphael woman is in a stable condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after being chopped four times last night.
Police reports stated that the woman, Marilyn Gallan was standing at the corners of Far Fan and Queen Street, Arima when she was attacked by a cutlass wielding man.
Police said the attacker, Narine Singh, after chopping Gallan ran a short distance away and drank poison. He died along Woodford Street, Arima.
Singh, who is believed to be in his 50's was a street vendor and lived at Maturita, just outside Arima while Gallan lives at San Raphael.
Police said they have no motive at this time for the incident as they have not received any information that the two were a couple. Arima police officers are continuing investigations.
