It was good to see the politicians eventually starting to discuss the issues facing us rather than continuing to “buss mark” with mindless bacchanal. I refer in particular to Dr Rowley’s remarks on the Service Commissions.
I have articulated in the past that the Service Commissions have been one of the most destructive forces in our country. They have wrought tremendous harm to our society in the toll they have taken on the police, the civil service, the teaching service and the judiciary.
I would hope that Dr Rowley is serious, should he get into power. He also made a point about State boards. A word of advice: solve the problem overnight. Get rid of them and let the private sector handle them. The country cannot afford them. Let’s see what stuff you are made of should you into power.
