T&T’s Under-19 men’s rugby team will be seeking an improved position from its third place finish last year, when the host team opens its account at the North America and Caribbean Rugby Association (Nacra) Under-19 Championship, today against debuting team USA South. The match is carded to kick off at 4 pm, in the second match of a double-header at Fatima College Ground, Mucurapo, following the opener between Jamaica and Barbados (2 pm).

T&T is grouped in Pool B of the Cup competition, alongside USA South and Mexico. Pool A, meanwhile comprises Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Barbados. In the lower division, the Nacra Trophy, which features a T&T Club Select, action will begin on Monday. Because of the Fifa World Cup final, no matches will be played tomorrow.

Along with T&T’s Club Select team, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and reigning champion Turks and Caicos will also challenge the Nacra Trophy competition. Matches will be played every day from Monday until the finals and placing matches, which takes place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, on Saturday. The competition was won last year by the Cayman Islands for the third consecutive time, while Mexico finished second. T&T placed third with a convincing 41-12 win over Jamaica.
