Anil Bheem and Ravi B were greeted with adulation at the Centre of Excellence at the concert Plan B - The Sequel on Saturday night.
Bheem and his BMRZ first took the stage and performed for almost four hours, delivering songs from Bheem’s vast repertoire.
Bheem demonstrated his showmanship as he sang about 20 songs from a series of Indian movies.
This annual show, which has become an institution, presented three generations of the same family, with Bheem’s mother Praimatee and his daughter Pritibi also taking the stage. Praimtee sang Aja Aja, one of her favourites.
Ravi B and his band Karma came after Bheem and BMRZ, and excited the crowd with tunes like Human Tumse, Tera Mera.
Also in the show were chutney star Hemlata Dindial and Satrohan Maharaj. Maharaj dedicated a segment of his set to Indian singing idol, Kishore Kumar.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a special award to promoter Rafi Mohammed from Bheem, for his “continued demonstration and upliftment of Indian culture.”
Thie Father’s Day show marked the end of a series of concerts promoted by Mohammed, starting with the Valentine’s Day show and continuing with the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day concerts.
“I am only pleased when the patrons are pleased,” Mohammed said.
“That’s why I meticulously research the backgrounds of all the performers I put on for each of my shows. Planning has already begun for the 2015 shows.”
