I will like the Prime Minister and Mr Sat Maharaj to answer the following questions:
• How many taxpayers north of the Caroni River contributed to the money that the Prime Minister presented to Mr Maharaj in the form of two cheques?
• I will also like to know how many “planted” PNM civil servants north of the Caroni River contributed their hard-earned money to the cheques that the Prime Minister handed out?
If both the Prime Minister and Mr Maharaj are unable to answer these two questions then the Prime Minister must ask Sat Maharaj to return the cheques to the people of T&T, including those north of the Caroni River and the “planted” civil servants. It is shameful that on a day when the country should have been celebrating the contribution of the East Indians to the development of the nation, instead, our leaders were on a public platform promoting division.
As citizens, we must stand up and say enough is enough, and let the Prime Minister understand that come 2015 we will remember this day, Friday, May 30, 2014.
